Wandering around Woden

Woden located just a short distance outside the capital Canberra ACT in Australia is home to some great local street art. The Woden town square is decorated with a cool sculpture by artist Margel Hinder as you walk up the stair entrance to the square. It is a wonderful place with tables and chairs to eat lunch and meet up with people.

My visit to Woden was to see the amazing mural by street artist Smizdog also known as Garth Jankovic which features beautiful a platypus and turtles.

Woden town square also features stunning art from artists such as Happy decay also known as Bjarni Wark, Kate Matthews, Simon Sawell,John VOIR who created the possum in the world tree with a Odin god like figure in the middle and Ed Mo and Paw. The revamping of the area is part of the Woden experiment to create more public art and public spaces.

The town square also features local events like art markets and live music.  Woden has had a history of street art within the community it is great to see the local government embracing it and creating art spaces for artists and local youths.

Below is my video featuring more footage I filmed of street art at Woden town square
