Platypus Bill at Bobbin Head
I heeded the platypus call and headed off to the beautiful location of Bobbin Head located within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park New South Wales Australia. Bobbin Head can be accessed by Bobbin Head Road through North Turramurra or Kuringai Chase Road, Mount Colah near Hornsby. Bobbin head is within Guringai land. My reason for visiting was to see the recent installation of a giant platypus as part of the new nature play themed playground updated last year. The nature playground located at 1002 Bobbin Head Road, North Turramurra (within the Bobbin Head park) features a climb on giant platypus, a giant crab and a snake made out of sandstone stones. Other play equipment includes swings, tunnels, slide, sand pits and a wooden maze.
Bobbin head also has a number of bush-walks and picnic tables to relax and admire nature. Indigenous Australia rock art can also be viewed along the Bobbin Head Track and Gibberagong Track within the park. Check out these links for photos Indigenous art and Indigenous Art . Native flora and fauna can also be spotted such as lyrebirds, native mammals and lace monitors.
There is a nice art deco style building called Bobbin Inn where you can get something to eat, they also have paddle boats you can hire on weekends or during school holidays. I highly recommend visiting Bobbin head for the nature and adventure.
