Platypus in Happy Valley

Nature in the suburbs

Stafford is located around 15 minutes North of the Brisbane CBD. Stafford is located on the lands of the Jagera and Turrbal people.  Stafford use to be known as Happy Valley. It was later changed to Stafford (after the English town Stafford) in honour of Sir Thomas Brisbane, who was an officer in the Staffordshire Regiment.  My reason for visiting Stafford was to see the stunning new mural located on the wall at 18 Harvton Street. The mural was created by Kyle another wise known as km8ivearts. The mural features kookaburra, magpie, koala, kangaroo, water dragon and platypus. It lightens up the industrial area of which it is located in.

Happy Valley Brewing Co

Happy Valley Brewing Co is a local boutique brewery and located in Stafford. They played homage to the former name of Stafford, Happy Valley and therefore chose that name as their business name. The logo features a grasshopper as after a plague of insects ate the owners hop crop they figured that any creature that loves hops as much as them (the owners) than it should be the mascot for Happy Valley.

 Final Thoughts

I only had a short stop at Stafford but I'd love to go back to explore the town more, the streets featured the classic Queenslander style houses which were popular during 1840s so love to go back to take some pictures of the classic architecture.
