Radiant Revesby

Better Walls

I visited the South West suburb of Revesby New South Wales Australia. The town is known for it's Multicultural and diverse cultural communities. Revesby is located on the traditional lands of the Bidjigal people (part of the Dharug Clan).  As part of the councils beautification of suburbs they implemented a collection of murals as part of the Better Walls campaign.  A wonderful mural created by artist Peter Bourke (also spelt Burke as the artist's name is spelt twice on the Better Walls website so I'm not 100% sure of the spelling) is located on the building beside Ray McCormack Reserve at 1/3 MacArthur Avenue.  The mural features colourful abstract Australian animals. You can see more information here.

PHIBS

A large iconic PHIBS mural is on the Telstra Exchange building on the corner of River Road and Doyle Road.

MULGA

Along the same building the Telstra exchange at corner of River road and Doyle road is an artwork by MULGA

The Flying Kiwi

Located down Haydock Lane are a collection of artworks created by the artist The Flying Kiwi below are a selection I took. More cool photos can be found here in the blog Australian's publicTart.

Reubszz

A beautiful panda themed mural by Reubszz is located at 2A Mavis Street. He painted another mural at this location too but as it was a private industrial estate location I didn't want to stay too long if I wasn't allowed, so I only took picture of the panda one you can see his other mural here.

Mickeyfreedom & Mistery

A lovely mural is located near the Marco Avenue entrance to Revesby station located down McCormack lane. It features a collection of First Nations and Polynesian history, including Rapa Nui Stone statues. Mural was created by Mickeyfreedom (@mikeyfreedom71) and Mistery (@mistery973).

Sound Pipes

A cool light and sound installation can be found at 3A Revesby Place down the small lane way. The installation is called sound pipes and is part of the streets as shared spaces campaign.  It was installed in 2021 and is there still today. As it was daytime I'm not sure if the installation still makes light and sound.

Final Thoughts

Revesby is a great place to visit and easy to get to via public transport. The increasing amount of public art is great to see I hope they continue to add more to the city. The mix of food options are good too.

  1. "beautification", with a Better Walls campain - that is just great. I wish they would do that in my home town too, there would be a lot of spots to have great murals like these ones. The PHIBS and Reubszz ones are my fav, cool Rapa Nui reference there too. Great post! :-)
