Positive Platypus Vibes

Sunny weather again so I headed out to Camden New South Wales located in South West Sydney around 65 km from Sydney.  Camden is located at the intersection of three indigenous tribal boundaries. It is made up of Gundungurra, Tharawal, and Dharug people. My reason for traveling was to see the new signs created by the Camden Council featuring platypuses in a love heart (as the platypus is the local councils mascot).  The platypus signs feature positive messages to help get through the tough times of Covid and lockdown. The signs are on local bus shelters and some on pavements as well.

More cool art is within Camden library located at 40/44 John St, Camden NSW within the entrance there are 6 poles decorated with Indigenous Australian designed fauna, featuring a platypus. lyrebird, emu, kangaroo, indigenous line art and a map of the local tribes of the area. I'm not sure who the artist was but they are beautiful artworks.

Also within the library is a beautiful artwork featuring a Vincent Van Gogh style I'm not sure who the artist is but it is signed MAK.

A beautiful quilt design is also hung on the wall marking the bicentennial of Camden back in 1995

A beautiful Australian bird themed mural is also within the library, I'm not sure of the artist but it is signed by M.EZZY.

A wonderful stain-glass like light display featuring local landmarks around Camden is also within the library.

Lastly spoonville (a collection of wooden spoons decorated and displayed as public art, the Erskineville Sydney spoonville is the most famous one within Australia check it out here spoonville) made it to Camden with a small spoon collection started located near the top of the hill at the old barn called Lynn Farm within Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park located at 42 Exeter Street.

The Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park is lovely to walk around or have a picnic. Check out my other blog post on platypus public art in Camden too here

More video footage from my trip is below too.
