Platypus Jam

All aboard Platypus express to another Platypus adventure. This time my journey took me to Neutral bay located in the North of Sydney New South Wales Australia.  Neutral bay is located within Cammeraygal land.  My reason for traveling was to visit the Danielle McManus Captured Moments exhibition at Traffic Jam Galleries located 41 Military Rd, Neutral Bay.

Danielle McManus captured moments aims to evoke the viewer to question the narrative of the artworks and question what time period they capture. The artworks are ultra realistic with children and Australian fauna and flora entwined. Danielle lives within the Hunter Valley so many of the animals featured are found among the Hunter Region such as the New Holland honey eater.  Other artworks feature striking native animals such as numbat, king parrot, Major Mitchell cockatoo and Galah. My favourite piece was of course the one with a platypus in it, entitled Protector. It features a young girl in a vintage style swimsuit holding a platypus, along with superb fairy wrens, splendid fairy wren and green Rosella. Her head-wear is made of Flannel flowers (Actinotus helianthi). The exhibition runs until 26th of April 2022. I highly recommend it for nature and art lovers.
